Festival - Introduction

Festival is the live-ops event engine for Matcha! servers. It owns the event calendar: scheduled weekends, spotlight hours, server modifiers, community rallies, one-off staff events, Discord reminders, web calendars, and safe multi-node activation.

If Jubilee is the season, Festival is the moment. Jubilee says “this is the three-month campaign”; Festival says “tonight from 7-9, the Dragon Outbreak Rally is live, Renown is doubled, and the contest hall has bonus ribbons.”

Calendar First

Staff schedule events, boosts, rotations, and announcements from a single calendar model.

Live Modifiers

Activate temporary multipliers, spawn rules, reward bundles, NPC appearances, or objective overrides.

Community Presence

In-game banners, actionbar reminders, web countdowns, and Discord posts make events visible.

Safe Operations

Dry-runs, conflict detection, node locks, automatic rollback, and audit history keep events from breaking production.

A Festival is a named event package with time windows, modifiers, announcements, rewards, and optional participation tracking.

The Calendar is the authoritative schedule across all nodes. It knows upcoming, active, paused, and completed events.

Boons are temporary effects: renown multipliers, spawn boosts, Bazaar fee discounts, Journey objective boosts, Frontier queue bonuses, and more.

Heralds are announcements delivered in game, on the web, and through Discord.

Attendance tracks participation for reward eligibility, Passport stamps, Jubilee deeds, or event analytics.

Step 1: Schedule

Staff schedules Festival: Moonlit Market for Friday night with Bazaar fee discounts and rare vendor NPCs.

Step 2: Announce

Festival posts a Discord reminder 24 hours before, a web countdown, and in-game heralds 15 minutes before start.

Step 3: Activate

At start time, node-safe locks activate market boons, Journey side quests, and a limited Jubilee deed.

Step 4: Recap

After the event, Festival posts stats, grants Treasury rewards, and mints Passport attendance stamps.

  • Server Feels Alive: Events are visible before, during, and after they happen.
  • Reliable Timing: Web and Discord calendars make it clear when to show up.
  • Shared Moments: Boost windows, boss trains, market fairs, contests, and outbreak rallies become social rituals.
  • Event Rewards: Attendance and participation can unlock cosmetics, titles, badges, or Jubilee progress.
  • Live-Ops Control: Schedule recurring and one-off events without manual command spam.
  • Conflict Prevention: Detect overlapping modifiers, unsafe reward combos, and node mismatch before publishing.
  • Cross-Mod Orchestration: Coordinate Outbreaks, Frontier, Bazaar, Relic, Journey, Reverie, and Jubilee from one calendar.
  • Operational Memory: Keep a history of what ran, who changed it, which nodes activated, and what rewards went out.

Festival fits the Matcha! style because it is broad, social, and instantly understandable. It can cover a battle weekend, a market fair, a contest gala, an outbreak hour, or a season finale without becoming tied to one mechanic.
